RWS air rifle Help

Hello Ya'll
I picked up a RWS air rifle, at a yard sale. It's a Diana mod. 48/52. It's 22 cal. A single stroke lever on the right side. Really nice adj. sights and a scope rail on it. It appears to work, good to very good condition. Does anyone know the vintage of this gun? Or what kind of FPS this thing will send a pellet? Maybe what it is worth? I figured i coulden't go wrong for twenty bucks. Thankyou Beltfed

    Hey Beltfed,

    I got a 52 in 177 cal and it spits them out at 1100 fps. Unless there is something wrong with yours, I'd say 800-900 fps is expected for a 22 cal.

    I believe you spent your money wisely. Mine which isn't even a year old set me back $400 and is worth every penny.

    Ive had mine in .177 for two years. I have it scoped with a BSA 3-10 and love it. It is extremely accurate. I too am in the $400 price range. There is a lot of different types of pellets you can use. See what shoots best.

    I got my RWS 48 in .22 cal last week for $280 on sale. It is awesome. The velocity is supposed to be around 900 fps (not sure what grain pellet they are using).

    WOW! My wife bought me one (.177 cal) at an auction a couple years ago in a box of misc gun parts ($10.). It was in 2 pieces ( action/stock seperated) and needed the screws to join them and a tigger guard. I found screws to put it together and it shot great. Then I gave it to my BIL to make a trigger guard for me (He works in sheetmetal fab). Over a year now and haven't seen it since. Aren't Brother in laws great?

    Good gun. I was selling them better than 10 years ago. They will bust a scope however, so make sure if you do put a scope on, it's an "airgun" scope.

    Also, be sure to use only airgun lubricants. The lubricants normally used in firearms can damage the seals. Either RWS or Beeman is a good resource for airgun maintenance.
    Don't dry fire the gun.


    They're good guns and very powerful. Last I checked, they had a lifetime warranty.

    What fldave said about the scopes and the oil. If you lube it with a flammable oil the pressure will ignite it and cause a mini explosion in the gun. I've been using Hoppes Elite gun oil in mine, it's made for airguns and you can usually find it at Wal-Mart.
