Franchi Model 48 AL

Any one know what the value of a Franchi Model 48AL is. Looked in GB but none listed have sold. What is a realistic price? Thanks

    I have committed to buy a Franchi model 48 AL. I bought this gun on a whim, and really have no idea what I am getting. I thought it was on the same level as a Benelli.

    Please offer you opinion of these guns.

    Depends a lot on how old it is. Can you post a picture of it? The older ones were kinda plain jane, but still very servicable guns. The newer ones made in the last 5 years seem on the outside to be better in terms of fit and finish, better wood on the new guns too. I bought one last year used and it has a very flat finish on the metal and plain wood. The new ones I have seen are much nicer with a blued finish and a much higher grade of walnut. No matter what, Franchi is a good company and you will have a very nice field gun that will last if you take care of it. Good luck in your purchase.

    Age could indeed make a difference. Franchi was an independent company for many years. My Aristocrat Silver King from the 70's is a very fine shotgun. Quality declined some years later, and Beretta bought Franchi in recent years. Quality has been improving since.

    The AL48 will make you an excellant shotgun no matter how old it is.
    Very well made, and it should last for years if you take care of it.

    Gun control is hitting what your aiming at.

    The Franchi AL-48 is a recoil operated shotgun like the Browning A-5 and a lot of the older Remington's. Very dependable, very solid. The Franchi is also relatively light. Makes it handle great, but it can kick hard with heavier loads.I like mine a lot. I hope yours works out good for you.

    I've got one in the shop now for a strip & clean, nice shotgun. Modified browning a-5 type action. light weight=more recoil. just be sure to set up the recoil system for the type of ammo you will be shooting (light loads/heavey loads).
