Time-line for paper amunition boxes

Where can I find information concerning the production dates of various manufactures'amunition boxes,ie; early 50s, late 50s, 60s, etc.? Which was first Western X-pert blue/yellow box or Western X-pert all yellow? Git the idea?

  Hello stolenuserid: The easy way is to read the ammunition lot number on the box lid! the X-pert Blue & Yellow, is Post-war to about 1960/61, The all yellow and still paper is up to about 63-65. By then everything was plastic hulled.
  
  Do a net sure for the Mil-spec on small arms ammo. The spec will tell you how to read the code.
