    do any of the auction paysites bidpay, i know not paypal, allow you to use them for firearms? i could see the faxed ffl useful then, but when i have to mail payment, the ffl will be there waiting on the money. i may have no idea what i am talking about, but could you give me a scenario to let me see if it would be helpful to me? didn't even think about a credit card. i guess i might have to get me one of those now.

    I'm not an expert, but i did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    FFL FAX and a credit card would save about 3 days ,tops.

    Then what of the "signed in blue or red ink?" Just makes it easier to fake... not that I really think 99.9% of folks ordering a gun would.

    FFl Fax and Fax of $100 bills, forget the CC duckhunter
    and just fax the correct total of bills and change also.
    I guess could even fax a money order or cashiers check.
    Dang, this is getting "too" easy, time to order some guns.

    From what I found out today, as long as the signed copy is legible, everything is kosher. The blue/black ink thing really doesnt matter if you use a black and white fax I guess. Just as long as the person on the other end has a clear copy on file. Finally some common sense.[:D]

    Even if the signature is faked, as long as the license is verified online, with the shipper verifying that the shipping address is the same on both the faxed license and online ATF reference, the faked signature ends up being meaningless.

    Someone would have to try to change the address and fake the signature, then fax the license copy and hope the shipper doesn't verify the license and address with the ATF before shipping. Of course the place he has to receive the shipment would have to be non-traceable to him -- which wouldn't be easy to do.

    The only slightly greater risk is for a dealer with a bad employee, but that employee would have the problem of intercepting the shipment before his boss was aware of it at the FFL/receiving address. And he still would have to find the means of paying for whatever he was buying, or figuring out a way to have his boss's business pay for it without getting caught!

    Has anyone tried to read a faxed FFL.... You can't. I have a very good machine and it will not let the FFL # show through the dark box.
