what is the best quality, most accurate and most reliable inline muzzleloader that you can buy in the 200-300 range?

    I'm shooting a CVA Optima which I got for sending in a recalled Staghorn. The Staghorn cost me $150(bottom of the line) in 1996 and the Optima today retails for $415. The staghorn shot great groups at 100yds using just bullets. The Optima I'm sure will outshoot the Staghorn and I just got it dialed in before the sun set today.
    They have some lower priced, shorter barrel optimas in the $250 range. Among many others depending on the style/features you want.

    Take a good hard look at the T/C 209/50. It is great.

    Savage kicks butt. You can use smokeless powder at ~44gr charges with no corrosive residue and accuracy is 1" and much less when it is tuned in. This is a 300yd muzzleloader. They can also accomodate black powder and pyrodex if you find that necessary.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    I really recommend the Encore 50 Caliber. That combo is tough to beat. I have harvested numerous Whitetails and a black bear with it. They hold a great pattern and they go off when you pull the trigger. Good Luck

    that tc encore looks nice the only thing is the price i noticed its above 500 im only looking to spend 2-300 the remington looks pretty nice

    I would have to say ditto to the Encore but its pricey ($400+ I believe)

    Any mentioned above are great choices.

    JustC, I think you have been smoking too much of something. The Savage is a good muzzleloader, but a 300 yard muzzleloader it is not, not now, not ever. Nor is there a 300 yard muzzleloader made today in my opinion, and I have hunted a bunch with a muzzleloader. A 200 yard shot with a muzzleloader is a long shot, especially if you don't constantly shoot at that range over the course of the off season. On top of that, I can't imagine why anybody would need to shoot a whitetail at that range if in fact they are real deer hunters that have some good hunting ethics about them. Having said that, there are a variety of good muzzleloaders in the $200-$300 range. I would consider another option though. I would look for a better muzzleloader that is used, and pay less for it. I don't think you'll find too many muzzleloaders with the barrel shot out, and everything else is so simple that finding one with any major problems would be rather rare.

    Take a look at the Austin & Halleck. It has half octagon and half round barrel and can be had with wood (fancy) or synthetic stock, satin nickle or buled finish. I really likemine but I am an oppertunistic muzzleloader hunter (carry it when conditions are right!). It is an inline with "open" ignition in case your state requires that and has both # 10 cap and 209 nipples. I bought mine on Gunbroker for around $250. I have seen them with the full camo finish but the nickle synthetic is the one I went with. My accuracy is really good but again, I don't shoot muzzleloader as much as some.

    hadjii, you need some range time my friend. I have seen deer cleanly harvested at 287 lazered yards with a 50cal rem 700 and only 100grs of pyrodex. That deer went 25yds. The savage is far and above the most powerful rig going with the 250gr slugs. I have personaly gotten .971" 3 shot group at 100yds and have many other un-measured groups that would concur. We will have no problem with 300yd shots after choosing our loads and running the targets. And I hope the 300yd limit you impose is limited to muzzleloaders,..as that is childs play with a rifle.

    hadjii...hate to disagree with you, but justc is right. In the hand of a capable shooter, the Savage MZ IS a 300 gun. It can use smokeless powder, and it is the ABSOLUTE best mz I have ever fired.
