Iver Johnson 28 gauge
I recently got my grandmothers, then fathers IJ 28 gauge champion. It has a pretty rich family history including a barrel that was sawed off when my grandmother ran out to the porch to shoot a possom. She fell off the porch jammed the barrel full of mud and continued to go after her prey. Well the barrel mushroomed out a little so grandpa sawed it off. It also blew the front stock off so it's electrical taped on. I would like to get it back to good condition to hand down to my kid sometime. I've found the wood and internal parts, but can't find a barrel. Is this even going to be possible? Does anyone make them? Thanks for the help in advance.

I am have tried to no avail to get information on this gun.
I don't know much about it and would like to try and find the value and how to do research to find who may have owned this gun.
It's an Iver Johnson 28 gauge single shot with model # 55149 all over it. I was told that it was considered a model 36 by Iver Johnson Company that was contacted but they did not know anything about the gun and whioe looking for any info I fould an old catalog that shows it is model 39. I am tired of looking, can anyone help me?

Open your eyes and ears. Does anything come back about your little IJ single? If not, there's a reason.
Iver Johnson made good utility guns in their time. Yours could now be considered interesting because of the small bore... But it wasn't when the gun was produced. Then, it was just another tool in an endless string of such.
Unlike the premier brands (and even most of those have been lost), there was never a record of where these pieces went that I'm aware of. Nobody cared all that much then and it hasn't changed to this day.
Content yourself with the fact that you have a nice neat utility 28 gauge thats worth double its larger bore brethern.

the model 39 champion (small frame) was manufactured between 1910 and about 1919 the model 36 standard frame manufactured 1909 until about 1960 (there were several variations of the model 36 but not the model 39).
