Shopping my FFL......got space?

Here's one I hadn't thought of asking the experts...until now. I have my FFL (current till '06) and have had my fun here on GB and other sites. But I've always had it in mind to see if, say, the corner hardware store wanted to broaden it's appeal with me, my guns and my 14 year old dog? In other words I rent space or whatever arraingment would be made and we hopefully increase each other's customer base with the new addition.

We just had a BATFE seminar and my agent (we get along just fine, thank you) and I spent awhile on this subject. It is a very do-able move as far as BATFE is concerned........

So, know anyone in central Florida or outer Mongolia who is just dying to have an old LE and dog the fray???

    You would need to get a new license if you are going to change locations.

    It's a great idea. I tried to do the same thing with a local pawn shop several years ago. We talked quite extensively and things were looking good, but then the shop owner's insurance guy got into the picture and things went down hill quickly. Now the pawn shop already had its own license but it really wasn't doing anything with it other than a few Jennings, Brycos and Lorcins. After the insurance guy was finished talking to the owner, he nearly turned in his license. The guy really scared the shi..... out of the shop owner. I tried to calm things down and reassure him that there really wasn't any more liability involved and if he allowed me in there he would be seeing a lot better class of merchandise and clients as well. It's now nearly ten years later and the pawn shop owner just opened his second store. I see that he still has a few of the same type of junk guns he had before. I don't think it's worth the effort for me to approach him again, but I sure wish you the best of luck. Let us know if you get set up somewhere. Regards -- Steve

    Once you find your new location with a rented or leased space you would apply to the ATF at the NLC for an ammended FFL and change your premes location. ATF told me it can take up to 45 days. I just did it and my new FFL back in a week.. I think its a good idea if you can find the right store owner to work with....
