Smith 422: Any good?
I've seen a few of these here and there for sale, and they are always pretty darn cheap (like under $200).
Makes me think they aren't all that good.
Anyone try one? How do they stack up, say, compared to the Rugers?

Hello they are an interesting design . The bore line sits very low in the hand . This makes for very little muzzle flip.Good for rapid fire target work. That is the good news. The bad news is that at least the blued model have cast zinc alloy slides and don't hold up well to medium or heavy use. I don't know about the ones that look like SS . also there are some feed issues with the magazines. For a plinker it might be Ok. 0 -
Avoid at all cost: I've had one for over 10yrs and have spent more on shipping it back to S&W than I spent on the gun. They have fixed it so often that it won't run and the sights can't be adjusted far enough to keep it on target.
Bought a Ruger MK II to shoot and it has had over 15K rnds through it and still shoots great.

I've had one for around 10 years. I used it alot when first purchased and had very good results. It has been in my safe unused for about 8 years. I simply have others that I prefer and shoot regularly. I had zero negative experiences, but only shot about 500 rounds through it.
