Derringer/ cleaning blue finish

I came across an old Hi-Standard Derringer, .22 Magnum Caliber, DM-101. I took it apart, cleaned her up and put her back together. I want to polish off the minimal rust spots without scratching the blue steel finish. What's the best way???

  0000 steel (or brass) wool and Kroil or Break free. Gentley rubbing will not harm bluing. Then keep it well oiled. Once started the rust process does not stop.
