Remington 700 Etronx - Buy or Not
I'm a dealer but I've never carried the Rem 700 Etronx nor have I ever done any research on it. Recently my suppliers started offering close-out priceing of the Rem 700 Etronx VS SF in 22-250, 220 Swift, and 243 for $520.00.
Is this a good enough price to stick myself with any inventory of this model, or should I stay away from it? Any opinion matters. Thanks in advance!

Just my gut feelin',but I'd stay away from it.Anything w/specialized ammo doesn't seem to go over very well.Remember the Daisy .22 that used the caseless ammo?
BTW,there are currently eight Eltronx's listed in the auction(various calibers).3 or four of them have "Buy Now" at $649(same seller) and there are no bids.
Only one of the eight has a bid and it's only $100.(Reserve not met)

I just read the info on Remingtons website on the rifle. It sounds very interesting but I'd have to agree with Bobby I would probably pass if my local dealer had one.0 -

Now trust me,I'm no expert on the Etronx Remingtons,but it has no firing pin.Somehow,it has a battery,some kind of computer and is fired electronicly.Just more things to go wrong.[V]

gettin like cars, somethin will go wrong with it and u will bring it to ur local gunsmith u've known for years and he'll look at it and say, sorry gotta send it back to the factory. deffinately things will go wrong with them, misfires, stuff like that, u'll be hunting and see the trophy and go to pull the trigger and the little low batter (ur screwed) light will come on

It may be different and not a hot seller today but any rifle with a lock time of 186,274 miles per second is pretty intresting.
Just like the Al Gore internet, it just may catch on. The place to watch is the Bench Rest shooters. If it is legal in that sport and it works they will buy it fast.0 -
As a consumer I would not buy a rifle that runs off of a battery. I prefer the good ol' primer + gun powder. I've never seen any Etronic ammo at a store. Also I've thought that this electric gun was silly the first time I read about it. I like a lot of folks wouldn't ever buy one.

When I heard that Remington had come up with an electric rifle, I thought Great!! I figured it was going to be a conventional rifle with an electronic trigger/switch that would release the firing pin. That would have been great, you could have next to nothing for trigger weight, and an extremely crisp trigger. Unfortutanely they made this silly thing instead.
