Kalshnikovs in the U.S.

I stand corrected.
During a recent post I stated that "to my knowledge" no AK-47's were produced in the U.S. They are and have been produced here. Specifically, Robinson Arms in Utah....among others that have been brought to my attention. So, for those of you wishing to purchase one made in the USA this is a good opportunity. From what I understand they have improved upon accuracy greatly.

I hate to split hairs but most AK's built here are done so with parts kits from over there. Robinson Arms imports the Vepr AK from Russia, IIRC. There are lots of guys building AK's with US made receivers and parts kits.
There are also shops customizing guns such as the saiga or Vepr. One example would be:

Closest thing to a completely US made ak, IMHO, would be the Keltec piston operated SU-16. I could be completely wrong but looking at that rifle's operation made me think AK!

Not to split hairs either, but the Vepr is really not a true AK variant. It is built on REAL RPK receiver. 0 -
