OTHER THAN A 22-250, WHAT DO YOU GUYS SUGGEST FOR COYOTE'S. I AM GOING TO NEBRASKA AND HAVE A CHANCE TO HUNT THEM. I OWN SEVERAL 218B'S AND A 243. EITHER OF THESE OR DO YOU RECOMMEND SOMETHING ELSE. I HAVE A BUNCH OF 225 AMMO BUT NO RIFLE YET. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THAT CALIBER FOR THEM? NEVER HUNTED COYOTES BEFORE. THANKS

    the 17 remington is one of the best there is. use berger 22 gr bullets. if you want the hides pristine and want the animal dead, this is your round.

    I'm not an expert, but i did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

    243!!!! that's the caliber i plan on buying next! 55 grainer goin close to 4000 fps...xtremely flat shooting. WOW what an amazing coyote rifle!

    Well, as it is summer and their skins aren't worth keeping, use that 243. If you hit them true, it should drop them in their tracks. If it were winter and you wanted some sort of trophy then the 218b would have done well at closer ranges as it would have torn up less hide. Fur hunter Blain Eddy says, on one of his videos, that he perfers 17 cal and is experimenting with 14 cal because of the minamal hide damage that he has to fix before selling the processed hide.

    Well if you are trophy/fur hunting then I would expect the next question to be what kind of range are you going to set up for? If you will be going for longer, 200yd or so, shots you will need a high energy round. For 60yds or less then your 218b should be fine, unless you feel like springing for a 17HMR. Still I should point out that with 22-250 and smaller cartridges you should expect to have to track them after they are hit. The 22s are not known for their droping power, kills them fine, just dosen't always drop them. If you want them to drop and wait for you, use that 243.

    i use the 223 65gr sp and the 243 havent seen much difference in stoping power with coyotes..smoked one with my 50 bmg once dont recomend that

    .223rem up to 300yrd's, .223wssm for anything over 300yrds

    6mm,.243,.223,22-250,220 swift,.222 rem.,.17 rem. centerfire (not rimfire), i have all of these and if you already have a .243 i would go with that...excellent round...

    I have a buddy that got a .204 ruger last year and took one with it, left the fur real nice
