World War 1 Casing??????

By the markings, it appears to be .303 british for the #1 mark 3 rifle , made in 1916. there will be someone along shortly who really knows , like our moderator. 0 -

Ummm that's NOT a 303Brit, or for any kind of shoulder fired rifle[:0]
That looks more like a 18pound (can't remember if that is a 2" or 3" bore) cannon shell casing. Note that the primer is a screw-in style.
