Help ID the finish please.

Hello all. I'm trying to help my dad sell his .357 Colt Python. We're not sure if the finish is chrome or nickel.

I did a search for chrome .357's and wasn't able to find any, but there were a number of ones that had the nickel finish, and they looked just like my dad's pistol. A friend of his said it was chrome, so I'd like some additional opinions.

    rkueck..... Colt did not chrome the Pythons. The finishes were nickel. The 2 finishes look alot alike and lots of people call it chrome.

    Thanks for the info. From the lack of info when I googled chrome .357 python, I thought that might be the case. I figured I'd ask for some expert advice to make sure I didn't advertise anything incorrectly.

    rkueck , First of all welcome to GB. Are you going to sell your dad's Python on GB or locally?

    rkueck - welcome to the forum. These guys are a great help to us lesser educated folk. ONE thing I do know is that Colt never offered the Python in chrome. They were bright nickel, with almost a chrome color to them. Seems like Smiths look a little more "yellow", but they are both nickel. I had the chance to buy what I was told was the last production Python in 21/2 inch many years ago. Didn't because they wanted $700 for it. God, I wish I had! Guess we all have one that got away!     I'm going to sell it via GB. I'll probably be listing it sometime tomorrow.
