m44
I have been looking at the surplus M44s,and am thinking about getting one for a plinker. Is there any quality difference in the Romanian,Polish,or Hungarian versions? Any reason I should buy one over the others?

what is one of the best m44 you can get i have a russian m44 1948 with matching numbers.. me and acouple guys at work went to the local and bought them for 80.00 i just herd there are acouple of bad types out there and i dont know much about this gun.. 0 -
You want to shy away from the Romanian and Hungarian ones the quality just dosent seem to be up to the same levels as the Russian and Polish made rifles seems like the post war mfg.are also better quality than war time production . Dont get me wrong the Hung.and Rom. made guns will shoot well too and are the same basic rifle,they just dont display the workmanship the polish and russian guns do .hope that helps Tim 0 -

If you have a Russian, that is one of the best M44s you can get, especially with matching numbers. The M44 was a mass produced rifle so quality of finish and fitting are rough on all of these rifles, but that in no way means they are not good shooters. These rifles are known for their simple design and ruggedness, like most Russian military hardware. Many of the M44s on sale right now have been arsenal refinished which really make them a good deal. These rifles probably aren't collector items, but they are fun, good shooters, and a piece of history.
For $80.00 you can't go wrong - its one of the best deals going on right now.
