Speed Loader Question

Ok I can load a gun clean it shoot it and the whole 9 yards. God as my witness I can't firgure out how to use the speed loaded that came with my Ruger KP345PR. It looks like a black metal square with a hook on the end. Someone tell me how to use this damn thing.

  it goes on top the mag and you use the hook to push rounds down into the magazine. I usually dont have much use for them.

  its not a speed loader so much as a thumb saver. some mags have really tough springs once you get 1 or 2 rounds from filling it up.
