Muzzle brake

I've been hearing that in you have a muzzle brake that can open and close, like on my Savage, you will not have the same point of impact if you sight your rifle in with the brake open, then shoot it with the brake closed. Any truth to this? Mine doesn't seem to make any difference out to 200 yds. at the range.

  It's been a long time since i have had my winchester mod.70 out,20 years or so i think,It' a 300 mag and it does take it's toll on these old bone's now,NO i'm not selling,i love this calibur and some day my son will end up with it.but until then,I was told to put a muzzle brake on it will take out a lot of the recoil,Was told it would be a lot louder,Well i don't hear so good anyway.Can anybody say for sure.Thank's for your committ's,I hope i didn't take up to much of your time.

  Go to Brownells site www.brownells.com they have a great selection of Muzzle Brakes. They come in various internal diameters and thread options. You might find somthing off the shelf, that will fit your rifle.
