I want to build or have built a bolt action 50 BMG.

does anyone make a 50 BMG in an AR platform or even AK 0 -
Take a pipe, put a stick of dynamite and an 'AA' battery in that pipe, light the dynamite. That's about what is involved with a 50BMG rifle so I'd be really picky about what you buy, some folks have had bolts break, barrels burst and other issues. Maybe an Armalite AR50 in the $2500 range might be a good idea.

I asked the same question last week.[:D] Check out the replies I got at my posting as it may help you out. Lots of good links you can use and a lot of good advice on .50bmg's from the guys here.
I finally decided on a McBros, but there are good ones like the Armalite out there for a lot less. I would beware of anything that looks like it was made from muffler tubing, cheap castings or any other questionable hobby shop methods. One thing I found with all the contreversy going on is that everybody with a garage and some scrap steel is trying to build a .50BMG to sell. Good luck in your search and have fun.[:)]

I second the ALS (Advancec Long range Systems)gun. Darran is a good friend of mine and I have seen most of the .50's on the market. He builds one of the tightest and most accurate guns out there. It will outshoot a Barrett and is on parr with the Mcmillan for accuracy. Everything is machined and very well fit, NO WELDS. Darran also holds a world record or two with this gun as well as a few drawers full of trophies. www.50bmg.net. Darran is a great guy to talk to and a very good resource for .50 information. 0 -
Thanks for all the replies, like i said I've just started looking for one and it seems like it will take some time to find the right one. I don't want to spend $5000 - $7500 for one of these toys - but i don't want a cheap POS that is going to hurt me or someone else.
No one has said anything about the company called Watson's Weapons, I have emailed them 2 times and gotten no response so my guess is they may not be around anymore. thanks again0 -
bigjohnny - Go with the Armalite AR50, just sold a complete outfit scope, bag,mono pod & M60 bi pod, with 221 rds of ammo for $3,100
Armalite can take the pressure of custom reloads, and is accurate as hell out of the box.
Plus with the massive "Shark" muzzle break, you dont need to spend a fortune on a high dollar, 50bmg proof scope, as with the other 50bmgs

I'll second this response. You cannot go wrong with the Armalite. They are very well made and have a massive bolt. The muzzle brake is phenomonal (sp?).
