22 hornet reduced load

Is it possible to download the hornet to,say, the noise and velocity of the subsonic 22 long rifle with accuracy? thanx? any successful reduced load recipes out there?

    Hello I have used some loads from IDEAL hand books of reloading from the 1950's they have a load of 3.0 grains of UNIQUE pistol powder and a 55grain lead bullet for 1000 FPS I would not go much below that in a rifle barrel as the chance of bullet might not get out of the barrel and even this small amount of powder is enough to bulge the barrel on the next shots. I have used these for SQUIRREL hunting.

    thanx perry Ill try that. I think Ill use the small dia hornet bullets (.223) to start and then maybe go cast lead.

    Hello CODY I would stick with 224 If that is what your barrel is IMHO a bullet that is small in the bore will strip instead of engraveing into the rifling this is exaggerated if the powder charge is light.

    Just beacuse 3.0 grains of unique will get a lead bullet out of the barrel doesn't mean it will get a jacketed bullet out. Be careful, and check your bore after the first few shot to be certain.
