SIG SAUER P229 and fobus holster???HELP PLEASE!!!!

[?]Hi everbody I'm new to the forum I been reading a lot from this forum and finally made my decision and got a sig sauer p229 I was debating between the H&K usp compact .40 and the p229 thanks to you guys a made my decision and I got the p229, ok this is my question,
I'm used to use the fobus with my last gun glock 32 and I loved it I was going to get one for my p229 and the sales guy told me that it was going to ruin the finish on the gun so I bought a galco but is kind of bulky, do any of you guys use this holster with this gun if so how is your experience is it true that it ruins your finish?????
(my p229 is a two tone)

    the fobus holster didnt do anything to your glock did it? didnt ruin mine either ! i havent tried a tuo tone weapon in them to be honest but all the guns i have it never harmed them in anyway fobus has been around for a few years now and i am sure if finish wear was a problem we would have heard about it . i am not talking about practicing drawing your weapon 10,000 times from it but just from every day use i dont think it would pose a issue.

    The holster it self will do nothing, now you go drawing a 100 times a day like I do you will not only wear down the finish but the steel will slightly wear as well, I also use a spray lube on the inside I spray it with a silicone lube and let it dry, makes for a smooth draw, the only point that has worn of my finish is in front of the trigger guard done while reholstering, and the end on the barrel, I have five fobus holsters for five different models of guns and only the one I use for practice and competition have put any wear one my gun, and it is even Wilson combats armor tuff finish that started to wear after about the first 5,000 draws

    I'm with 1911 on this one, the wear comes from holstering and unholstering your weapon. I use a lot of different fobus holsters on some really expensive firearms and have not had any bad experiences with wear on the firearm. The Sig with the K-kote was designed for just such wear and the Glocks tenifer finish is the same (only tougher) Hope this helps.

    Their inexpensive holsters that are made of moulded plastic, but they do the job. Not aware of any of their models that are lined with anything? Lot of the big-mouth self anointed gun experts, trash talk them. Far as I'm concerned though, their the classic better mouse trap. The guy who thought them up, blew everybody else making plastic holsters out of the market, price wise.

    i have one one for my glock 19 i use to use as a carry gun and dirt and grim gets in the holster and by removing the gun it scrathes it so i would not recomend one for every day carry

    That has been my experience too. If you are going to use a Fobus or any other plastic holster (Kydex), be sure to wipe out the holster every so often. Sand and gunk will mess with your gun's finish in Fobus holsters.

    At one time I had a fobus for almost every pistol I own. I finally came accross Don Hume Leather Goods and have almost completely switched to leather belt mounted holsters, most with thumb snaps.

    Working a Manufacturers Shoot at the shop, I had an aquaitance walk up behind me and pull my 45 out of my Fobus. I almost slugged him. Stopped using Fobus right then.

    One other thing to consider here. If your 229 is for carry, don't be too concerned with the finish. Unless you store your gun in your safe, figure on having some finish wear from carrying. Down the line you could always have Sig refinish it. I know that Glock offers to refinish it's guns, I'm sure Sig does too.
