winchester model 36 price difference ?????

Any theories why such an increase in values listed in bluebook.
The 23rd edition lists this gun at $200 at 60% to $500 at 98%
The 25th edition lists at $750 at 60% to $1900 at 98%
The 26th edition shows $750 at 60% to $1700 at 98%
Winchester Model 36 9mm rim fire shotgun.

  Hello trsmith5: Well you have to remember the BB is an average of the guns sold that they are aware of. One, only about 25,670 made, last year was 1929. The idea that you are going to find one in 100% or even 98% are very slim. They probably uncovered where one in that condition sold for $1900. Once the word gets out, what it sold for the only other one in that condition came on the market and sold for $1700. From the ones I've seen in the last few years, the stock is beat to death, the bolt is worn, barrel blue is all brown patina, that's if they are still original. Knowning attrition rates on pre-64 Winchesters is high, I would bet 30-45% of these guns no longer exist. Parts have been few and far between for 50 years.
  Remember an "average" if they only had one on the market, that's your average.
