Remington "The Sportsman" Model 11 / 20 Gauge

The bolt, when in the rear position, will not release when I push the release button. I have to give the bolt handle a little push, then it slides forward again. As a result of this problem, the gun is a single shot and will hardly ever cycle. Which part can I replace or repair to fix this. Springs seem plenty strong. Thanks for any feedback.

    Start with a good cleaning. You did not say if you need to depress the realese button to get the bolt to go foreward.

    I WOULD RATHER BE DUCK HUNTING.

    "Start with a good cleaning." also check the bolt spring and the tube it rides in (inside of the butt stock). check for rust/dirt/kinks ect.

    Thanks guys, No matter how hard I push the release button, the bolt will not budge until I give the handle a little tap to make it slam forward. I hate to dissasemble this thing as the humpbacks are a pain in the @$$ to work on. I will clean, lube, amd maybe even replace bolt spring.

    I don't know if this will apply,but I had a Sportsman 48 12 ga(I know,not the same gun)that did the same thing.Finally realized that it was the low-powered shells I was using(Wally World Winchester).It worked perfectly with Hi-Powered shells.

    Just thought I'd throw that in.
