an unopened box in excellent condition of .410 ( 12 m/m) Winchester paper shot shells. shot no. 7ch also a box of US ammunition 410 ALL_BRASS (12m/m) - this box is opened and box has a few rips. Thanks to all- Iowa

There have been tens of thousands of different boxes & types of ammo made over the years. Even a collector couldn't give you the value without seeing photos of the boxes. The only real way to place a value on them is to offer them at absolute auction, & that will only tell you what 1 person was willing to pay on that 1 day.

The only way that you could be sure that the box was unopened and the shells were mint and original would be if it was one that you just bought at the store. Caveat emptor 0 -
Hello Iowa: What caught my eye was the 7ch!! They stopped using #7 shot in the early 1930's and went to 7 1/2. Across the top of the box does it say;

All the above on a dark label? If so the box dates from the 1920's and being full is rare. If it was on auction, it might go well over $200. To get a better idea of what you have, describe the boxes, all the writing, shot size shell size etc etc.

For woodshermit: This vintage of box is a 2 piece version, they would glue on the box label, and it would cover the face go down the sides and fold over onto the bottom, thus sealing the box. You have to break the label to open the box, so it's very easy to tell if it's an unopened box.

Despite the captain's kind - and overly inflated! - opinion of my expertise, I have nothing approaching a handle on the values of shotshell boxes, but I would think Dave is in the ball park @ $200, in large part because it is an unusual box in super condition. This valuation may in fact be conservative. If you want a more precise value, I can check with some shotshell specialists.
I'd lean toward a similar valuation on the US Ctg box. I'd grade it lower than you have . . . the guys who collect boxed ammo often are paying as much for the condition as the rarity. This design is standard for USC material of that era, unlike the WRA type which is a new one on me (keeping in mind the caveat expressed in the beginning of the reply). I'd grade it "fair" but it is full, so that improves the value. The single shells typically bring about $6 at auction, so the retail of the shells alone, sold singly, would be $150 . . . $200 would be, JMO, close to the top end.
