.22 Collector Ammo Value ?

I just bought a 1947 vintage Winchester model 61 rifle from its original owner, and he gave me 8 boxes (left in the factory brick carton) of Remington Hi-Speed Kleanbore .22 LR ammo in a red and green box. He also gave me 3 boxes of Peters High Velocity .22 LR shot cartridges in a blue and red box. The boxes are in very good to excellent shape, and are full of ammo. Anybody know what these might be bringing ? Thanks for any replies !!

    Hello, Best way is to look at completed auctions on Gunbroker. Go to Smart Search and look at the completed auctions that correspond with your boxes.

    The Remington ammo $4 - $8 / box (presuming virtually mint on upper side), the Peters shot $15 / bx & up depending on which packaging scheme and condition.

    Thanks !! I have only been able to find 1 reference to the same box that the Peters Shot is in. The same design box is listed on Ebay as item # 7169475660. (I hope I can say this, as I have nothing to do with the listing on ebay) Anyway, I have 3 full boxes that are in better shape than the box on ebay. Thanks again.

    The Remington ammo is fairly common. My suggestion is to keep the ammo for the sake of provenance to display with your 61 as the ammo is directly related to the firearm. I always like to show the box of 22 Auto ammo that was handed down to me along with my 1903.

    match, you will do better with the *full* boxes selling to collectors where the PC police do not congregate than you will on the empty boxes on fleaBarf. I would list them for sale on GB or another site dedicated to firearms-related materials. If you don't wish to auction them, I can put you in contact with some dealers who specialize in .22 material. Your profits will be lower, but they know the market.
