Beretta CX4 in NYC
I have recently bought Beretta CX4 9mm 10RD clip. In NYC we have to register every gun we get. I`ve sent the form and I got rejected note from NYPD that I have to proof to them that "it is not considered as an assault weapon" (send photos to prove otherwise) and then at the bottom of the letter "Beretta CX4 shows it has a pistol grip,therefore cannot be registered in NYC".
Does anybody have any advice what I could do ? try again with photos or get rid of the CX4. Why FFL dealer didn't tell me that I was going to have a trouble to register it in NYC.

Not real sure what to say.
The CX4 has a thumbhole, not a pistol grip and it is considered a long gun. It was designed for ergonomic reasons not assault.
I say send pictures along with the company brochure and see what happens.0 -
Yes, the grip is NOT a pistol grip. It is a thumbhole...same grip found on many target/varmint bolt guns.
I am not familiar with NYC laws. Does NYC define as an assualt rifle any long gun having any ONE of the following: pistol grip, bayonet lug, detachable magazine holding 10 or more cartridges, collapsible stock,...etc? I would like to know NYC's definition.
I would think that because it is what is considered a handgun caliber that might make a difference also.

I'd just pass on mailing in the paperwork(ONLY JOKING!), or you can site the list from the clinton assault weapons ban and note that it is not a gun listed.

We are dealers in Upstate NY and really have no idea what rules NYC has on you and firearms. It was your responsiblity to know before you purchased this weather you could register the gun . Its not his fault. 0
