LORD AND LADY COLT DERRINGERS ????

I came across a set of cased derringers that look authentic enough,
except for on the barrel its marked "BUTLER" instead of "COLT"
Can anyone tell me the difference or validate the authenticity please. By the way, they're .22 cal not the 41

  Should be a "barron" and a "barroness" Don't recall for sure but I think late 70's or early 80's. About half the price of the colts.

  If you just want a toy to have fun with, & the price is right (< $100 for the pair), there's no reason not to buy them. They are the same as the Colt #4 derringer (literally), since Butler made them on contract for Colt.
  
  Be sure that they are .22 short. They were also made in a percussion version, & a .22 short version that lacked the firing plate.
  
  Don't buy ANY of these derringers if you plan to "collect" them; the plated finishes are only about 1 micron thick, & will rub off if handled.

  Butler made the pistols for Colt around 1968. The only real difference is the markings and the fact that people will pay a lot more for them when they say Colt. I have 3 of the Butlers that I bought in 1968. I paid $12 each back then.
