Identification of parts and a gun

I have two questions for my fellow gun nuts.

1. I recently got the parts to a Winchester Shotgun. I think that it is a model 120 but am not sure. The forarm is smaller in the front than at the rear and there are 2 rods from the forearm that cycle the action. Am I right? Is this a 120 or a 12? HELP!!

2. A friend has a double barrel shotgun that's only markings are on the sideplate. It says Ranger. This is a 16 ga, side by side, dual trigger, internal hammers. I am looking to identify this shotgun so that I can find a stock for it.

Thanks for any help that you may be able to give me.

if it has 2 op. rods it's not a m-12 (probably a 120/1200) the ranger name was used by several co.'s but probably savage for m. wards. go to gunpartscorp.com and compair to parts drawings for the savage. m-311 or 5100.

Mike, The schematics ALL look right. Do you know of any way to differentiate between all of the various 311's or the 5100? My guess is that the stock will fit all of them...but not sure. Have been reading about guns for years, but just getting into basic restoration now.

Ranger .... Probably the Stevens Arms Company...They made two Double Barrel Guns One was the Model 315, Various Guages, Steel Barrels, Hammerless...In excellent Condition..$250.00/$300.00....
The Other was the Model 215..... came in 2 guages ..12 and 16, Steel Barrels and Outside Hammers....Value is the same as above.......

Cooch, go to www.boydboys.com and check their section on the Savage/Stevens stocks, it'll show you how to identify which reciever you have and what stock you'll need. Any doubts after that, give em a call, very friendly people and eager to help.

Just a little hijack, since some good replies have already been given[:)] I have a 410 bolt gun that says Ranger 101.5. Any info on maker, etc. Not looking to get rid of it as sentimental value is likely more than retail, just curious.

i CHECKED GUNPARTSCORP. CROSS REF. NO9 RANGER 101.5 LISTED, THEY DO LIST A RANGER M-400 AKA STEVENS M-311

The Ranger 101.5 was sold by Sears and made by Stevens. The comparable Stevens was the Model 37 bolt-action shotgun.
