Thompson contender question

Tthompson contender use to sell a pistol grip for the contender that was a big loop that you could put your whole hand in. Does anyone remember what they called that grip? Was it called the " ultra" or something like that? Thankyou beltfed

    Is there any way to loosen up the break down trigger guard on these things. It takes me two fingers and another hand to break it open. Im either getting weaker or its getting harder!

    you can carefully polish the locking blocks (older barrels only have one)... or you can send it back to t/c and they will do it for free (but you have to pay postage $$$).

    Thanks, have you done it? please give more advice on how...this is a common problem that alot of folks have. I am taking mine apart now.

    When you mix and match older frames with newer barrels or vice versa, you often end up with that problem. T/C will straighten it out if you send it to them or you can just buy another frame of the older/newer series and use the older frames with older barrels/newer frame with newer barrels-That's what I do.

    T/C did mine for free....updated the trigger and hammer at the same time for free. It came back much better than new. Ship it back!

    danski26: did you send back just the receiver or did you send back the barrels too ?

    You just have one of the older frames that needs to be pulled hard to open it.
    The newer styles frames have the pivot pin repositioned to make it easier to open.
    The two peice blocks will help out a lot if you don't already have them in the receiver. You should NEVER attempt to polish the locking lugs on any TC receiver. If you can't live with it this way then send it to TC, and they will fix the problem for you, usually at no charge.

    The reason i sent my contender back was i thought there might be a headspace problem with my 7-30 waters barell. "case head seperation after 2 or 3 firings" When i called T/C they asked for the entire pistol, so thats what i sent.

    I bought my Contender about 1990.It seems it was hard to break open at first.I don't know if it has gotten easier or I'm use to it now.
