Requesting ballistics info

Can someone put up ballistics info comparing .303 British and 30-06 which I already have with 8mm Mauser which I have on order (surplus rifles and ammo). Thanks

    i generally check out remington.com and go to ammunition and use their factory ammo ballistics

    I did and it appears that the 8mm Mauser is comparible to the .303 but not up to the 30-06.

    is that the answer you where looking for, it is hard to understand if you looked it up before you asked the question or after

    With comericial that's true, however if you get into some Turk Mil-Surp you will find it's right up there with standard 30-06 ammo.
    In any case, there isn't much your going to shoot at inside of 300yd that will know the difference.

    Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

    Hi Mowart,

    You didn't say what type of ballistics you were interesting in comparing. The attached graphs are a general comparison of velocity and energy out to 250 yards. I tried to keep the bullet as close as possible but used Remington factory data, and they don't make 8mm with a 180 grain bullet. All the numbers provided here could be tweaked by a handloader or other manufactuer using different components and bullet weights, but this should give you some kind of an idea.

    No surprise, the 30-06 is the clear winner.

    Thank you for the information. Back in the late 1960s I knew a custom rifle maker, Vigil Goode of Hyattesville, MD. He would make the barrel and stock but used a Mauser reciever & bolt. He considered Mauser to be the strongest action available and used it on more powerful catridges like 30-06 and up. So I had been wondering if the strongest action was due to the 8mm being the most powerful round. Evidently it isn't. Thanks again.
