WWII german rifles

I know very little about WWII german rifles, my grandfather brought one home from the war and I was trying to find some more information on it. It is shorter than the 98 mauser and it has a folding bayonet can anyone clue me in as to what this might be?

    it could be the k98k. k is kurtz for short. or it could be the k43. its only the k43 if its semi auto. the k98k would be bolt action.

    Sounds more like an Italian Terni...? Can You Post a Photo?
    It could be a Model 91 Carbine or Model 38 Carbine or Model Youth Rifle.........

    There were only ( 3 ) common rifles/carbines used in W W II, with folding bayonets. None of them were German. They were made/used by Italy, Japan & Russia.

    Your going to have to give us more information on your Grandfathers carbine. Quality pictures are best.

    Describe all the markings on it, then. With that info we could give you a good idea of country of origin.

    It is possible it could be a German capture Mosin Nagant. What caliber is it, 8x57 mm?
