KBI Makarov Worth

MFI
Have a KBI Makarov Model IJ70-18AH . Caliber 9x18 . About 90% condition . Whats it worth please ?

    J & G is selling Bulgarians in comparable condition for $140. Unless your Russian is one of the rarer variations, can't see it bringing much more then that.

    The hi-cap IJ70-18AH is worth a bit more than a run-of-the-mill Bulgy milsurp, to collectors of such. Say in the neighborhood of $300 or so.

    I don't know if they are worth any more ( they are scarce),but I prefer that model because it has a fully adjustable rear sight. [8D]

    $200 would be tops for me for a high cap 10 rd. (H) model. I have seen them sell for more, though. Good mags are hard to come by but the regular 8 rounders will work.

    The high capicity ones that I sold were double stack 12 shot mags,how will a narrow 8 shot mag. work?? [:)]

    The high cap Makarov that I shot had 10 round magazines. The 12 round mags fit in these guns as well. They (12 rd. mags.)are hard to find and expensive. To use a standard 8 round single stack mag, just insert it as usual. It will be loose on the sides, but will work OK. Both types are the same size at the top. Makarov.com used to sell adapters that made the 8 rounders fit snug at the bottom. I don't know if they are in stock at the present time. They have a great site and a wonderful store. We stopped off there in West VA last year while on vacation.

    makarov.com has a FAQ section that discusses prices of different versions. The high Capacity versions are worth considerably more than the bulgys. Myself, I have been buying up any of the new in box Russian Maks I have come across for about $180-$225, depending on model. I recently bought a NIB IJ70-17AH for $230.

    The Russian commercial Maks have a much nicer trigger pull than the Bulgarians. And there will never be any more of them imported. Figure a Used Bulgy will wholesale for $139, add shipping and transfer fee, you couldn't touch one for the $140 stated, unless you happen to live in Scottsdale, AZ. Figure at least $170 for a Bulgarian, unless it is very well used. Considering the extra $10 or $30 for a commercial Russian, I'd take the Russian any day over the Bulgy.

    According to info at makarov.com, the single stacks will work in high cap models, but the fit is loose.

    Yes, the sale price very much depends on the type and number of magazines included. Factory-original 12 rounders command a premium, aftermarket 10 rounders are worth much less.
