Need some Info
i am tring to rebuild a rem 788 that was in a fire barrel an action are fine stock was scortch. tirgger guard an clip was missing. was thinking to make it a single shot as i cant see buyn a trigger guard an clip for over a 100.00 for rifle that is not worth it. is it possable to put a regular trigger guard on an fill clip area with wood an use a regular folloer for shell. if so what type of trigger guard should i look for thanks mike

I have come accross a Weatherby Imperial 6x62 (is this powerful?)Scope. It is in excellant condition. I would like to know its value, its history and if I should use it to hunt with (big Game) or get a new scope because it is worth something.

Hello the first number is the POWER 6 this how much magnification the scope has the second number 62 is the size of the front lens the larger the number 62 is large the more light your scope brings in . good for low light hunting but need for high rings for scope to clear the barrel. The quality of scopes are getting better all the time so will yours become a collector item ??? I vote to use it and enjoy. 0 -
The objective on this scope is given as 1.862" which puts it more like 44 or 45 mm. 62mm would be over 2" diameter. The scope was made from 1953-1974, and current value (as of 2000) was $175-$250. Perhaps up just a tad today. If it works for you, use it. Scopes today are certainly better in terms of optics, and the quality scopes in terms of toughness and design as well. Collectability is determined by demand, and scope collectors collect a lot of scopes way below todays standards. Have a few old Weavers and B&L's myself which are not near the quality of today. Incidently, this was a high-quality scope in its day, but the design did not allow for conversion to a constantly centered reticle system, so it was dropped for the Premier seris with a constantly centered reticle.
