Seecamp - WW Silvertips

The Seecamp site now recommends not using WW Silvertips since they have changed designs. He recommends Glaser Safety Rounds. In your experience are there any other rounds that work? Jim

    My Seecamp's manual specifies only to use Winchester Silvertips.
    I have fired only this ammo, and only 50 rounds to break it in.

    At $32.00 a box (local price), this is some expensive ammo.

    I have used only hydra shok so far, (100 rounds), and they have fed and fired flawlessly. Recently purchased silver tips to experiment with, but will limit my "carry" ammo to hydra shok or gold dot. I have great confidence in these two rounds.

    Seecamp web site recommends Federal Hydra Shok rounds, NOT Winchester Silver Tips. See link on above post--Kevin

    Kevin, Seecamp for many years only recommended Silvertips until the recent design change. Jim

    Jim, yes, you are right about the Silver Tips being the only ammo recommended for about 20 years, however, what design change are you refering to? Do you mean a change in the Seecamp or a change in the Winchester ammo?
    My Seecamp is quite old ('86), and works flawlessly with either hydra shok or silver tip. All the ballistic info I can find show no significant difference between these two rounds and Speer Gold Dots. For example American Handgunner, May 2000, article "The Resurgence of the .32 ACP"
    I'm still in the dark about the Glaser rounds in the Seecamp. Do you have a reference source concerning these...I'm most interested in reading any info you can source.

    WW Silvertips changed recently. They used to be softer. The only difference you can see is around the tip of the hollow point. The old ones are smooth and the new ones that don't work good have notches around the tip. They are not crimpas tight and have a tendacy to move back into the case. Jim
