Hi What Thompson Tommy Gun is the best to buy as far as quality? Thanks in advance

  There is only 1 current manufacturer of the TSMG, Kahr Arms. They make excellent quality guns.

  Cant say I think these "new, legal so called Thompsons" are much. The
  longer barrel looks like hell and stupid. A original M-1 or M-1-A-1 thompson (as most were in WW 2) had only a 10 inch or so barrel as did
  the old ones. Here is the one I carried (a M1-A-1 Thompson).

  Joe,
  The short barreled versions can still be purchased new from Kahr, they just need to be registered as "short barreled rifles" and a $200 transfer tax paid. I agree, though. They just don't look right with the long barrel!

  If it's top quality you're looking for, you need be looking for a pre-WWII Thompson made by Colt.
  
  The WWII Bridgeport-made M1s and M1A1s were typical wartime quality...and the post-war Numrich Arms and Khar examples are a pale comparison to those beautifully made Colt Thompsons.
  
  But...be prepared to spend mucho buck$!
