Old Gun Maker I.D.
Looking for information on an old gunmaker. The gun is approx mid to late 1800s and is a named "Mortmer". I don't know if the gun is American or European. The customer is trying to find out the history and if he a well known. I haven't seen the piece but he tells me it is a side x side precussion shotgun. Thank You.

I don't know if this will be of any help since there is a difference in the spelling,but I found this in "Flayderman's";
Mortimer & Kirkwood.

Circa 1875-1890's.Originaly "Mortimer & Kirkwood" 1875-1880;"David Kirkwood" 1882-1888 and "Kirkwood Brothers" to early 1900's.
May not even be the same guy,but oh well.

Pull the Barrels and check on the WATER TABLE to see if there are any Proof Marks..If there are please Post a Copy or a Photo....also is the Spelling correct for the name given....Best.....
