winchester model 25

Does anyone know what a winchester model 25 in 95% condition is worth, it is a 12 ga.28 inch full choke barrel.it looks like a model 12,what does not a take down model mean,the barrel wont come off? thanks bridgebuilder41

    what is the difference in the model 25 and the model 12 winchester.they look alot alike.i know they want more for a model 12.is the model 25 just as good as the model 12.thanks bridgebuilder41

    Hello main differance is Model 12 is take down "easy to remove barrel" and Model 25 is a solid frame non takedown.

    Good morning bridgebuilder: As perry said the Md 25 is a "solid frame" gun. The breech bolt had no firing pin retractor, where the Md 12 did. The Md 25 was a simple plain shot gun that came with a plain barrel, that was 28in. choked Full, Mod. or Imp/Cyl. in 12 ga. only.

    Some say the Md 25 balanced better than the Md 12, if that's possible. Only 87,937 were built, compared with over 2,000,000, for the Md 12.

    Some parts are the same on both models, I believe the trigger guard assy's are the same, action slide, forearm, butt stock and bolt. The mag tube held only 4 rounds where the Md 12 held 5 rounds. When introduced, they sold for $79. where the Md 12 was $109. Today on the used market $200-$325 for the Md 25 (NIB more) and the Md 12 $300-$750, (depending on barrel length and choke, for the Md 12).

    I thought mine was a M-12 until I handled it. It cost $200 in about 90 % condition. Not as expensive as a M-12 right now, however, since there were lots fewer made, maybe someday the value gap will close.
