American made, hi-cap, all metal, .45ACP pistol
Is the Springfield GI 1911 5" .45ACP High Capacity the only American made, hi-cap (or at least 10+1), all metal, .45ACP pistol?

Probably cheaper. They've always made their 1911 frames there.
The only one that fits the bill based on your description that I can think of is Caspian. Then again, they might sell only frame kits and not complete guns.0 -
There have been a couple others "kind of" that were made "here".
All of them literally clones/copies of the Para-Ordnance, which although made in Canada many people consider it as made here. Or, at least in North America. The Sprinfield Armory version is also based in the Para.
The best one IMHO would be the California made Entreprise Arms. I have one which I have used for a few years now, with great results. Unfortunately the "people's republik" of California put an end to its manufacture.
Caspian Arms also made a great "components" frame, but you couldn't get their magazines in enough numbers.
Since the advent of the "alphabet guns" (STI and SVI) with their plastic frames and better perceived balance the "metal" frames did loose quite some popularity. The lower price of the Para-Ordnance has kept it going though, keeping it alive, in addition of their DAO offerings in high capacity.
If you are looking for a high cap .45 ACP (all metal) then Para it is.

RadCat: I had a feeling Para was going to be the closest thing to American made. I'm just trying to decide in my own mind whether I'd be satisfied with that being close enough. Maybe I need to start my own company and make my own all American, all metal guns right here in the good old USA or maybe I need to "get with the program" and buy a Glock. [xx(] 0 -
Yes, all SA 1911's are made in Brazil. In fact, they don't make any handguns in the US.

I know that this isnt a direct answer to your question, but here is my quick take on it. I have a Para P-14 that I really like. I also have the Older Kimber Polymer Stainless double stack that I LOVE.
