There is a struggling Finnish site that has had some good words on subsonic loading and truly quiet shooting. Maybe <<guns.connect.fi>> will get you there. Be sure to select the English language option. Search "arcane" and "silence without a silencer".
Be prepared for a whole 'nuther perspective.
Here in Kalifornistan silencers are verboten; in some freer countries they may be mandatory to protect hearing.

    No more power than you get, might as well use a CB Cap in a .22. Anything bigger than a squirrel, better pull a head shot.

    I used to hunt squirrels with a .22 Hornet loaded with a cast lead bullet and 3/4 gr of Bullseye powder. Almost no noise other than snap of firing pin and would penetrate 2 inches of pine same as a .22 LR. I stopped using the load after an unwise head shot on a feral hog. It is possible to run just as fast as you have to run with proper incentive(such as about 6 hogs in hot pursuit)[:I]
