SW99
i am thinking about purchasing a SW99 (walther style) in 40 SW. anybody have a good, bad or any opinion? they shoot good?

There are a lot of better pistols out there for the money. It's just my experience with one pistol.....but it was junk! Would not go through an entire mag without a jam. I know someone will post here that they love it and have never had a problem with there's but i would not spend a dime on one.

spend the extra money and get the walther not the sw version...i have a friend who had both and the walther worked flawlessly so he sold the sw model 0 -
There's better out there. Even the Walther is inferior to the H&K USP or a CZ in .40. 0 -
The beretta 9000 is a good option, too. It's comfortalbe, reliable and relativly affordable.

I "upgraded" to a SW 99 in 40 S&W from a G23 a few years ago. I've shot several hundred rounds and have had no problems. The DA/SA trigger is great and I consider it much safer than the Glock. Additionally, the SW 99 chamber is supported and the barrel rifling is traditional so you can fire lead bullets/reloads; i.e. no Kaboom worries. The grip is more comfortable [and adjustable] and accuracy is no less than the G23. I'd suggest you rent one and give the SW99 a try.

The New Jersey State Police was scheduled to switch from the HK P7M8 to the S&W 99 in early 2001. The changeover began, but there were many problems with the pistol. One trooper was practicing with his new S&W 99 when the pistol literally blew up in his hand. Shortly there after, the pistol was pulled, and ultimately the Sig Sauer 228 replaced the P7M8. Maybe they have worked the bugs out of it by now, but I would not purchase one. 0
