Need info on inherited weapons
I have recently inherited 2 unique weapons, and would greatly appreciate any/all input regarding history, value, etc.
The first is a cap and ball double, with ' N Lewis Troy NY' on the top of the barrels in front of the rear leaf sight. The left barrel is a smooth bore, the right has a rifled barrel. This firearm has been in the family for 80+ years.
The second is a pump action 16 ga shotgun w/ exposes hammer, with the maker being 'National Firearm Company'.
Again, all info is greatly appreciated.

I personally Owned an N. Lewis 1/2 Stock Target Rifle and was always sorry when I moved that I had to sell most of my Muzzle Loaders because I did'nt have anywhere to Store them...and the Lewis was one of them...But that's another story...Hope some of this information will help You in your quest for information......Best.........

Re your pump shotgun. National Fire Arms Co. is a Trade Name reportedly used by Marlin on some of their early pump shotguns.

Tom Rowe is about to publish a monumental work on NY State muzzle- loaders. I would suggest you buy it when it does come out. Nelson Lewis was a very well known NY maker. 0 -
National Firearms Co. was also a name used by Crescent-Davis on some of their shotguns. If it is a utilitarian sxs with damascus barrels it is likely Crescent. If that is the case don't shoot it. It is a black powder shotgun and is not up to modern loads, and should be thouroughly check by a qualified smith before useing even blackpowder loads. 0
