Winchester--- What is it worth?

Was just give a wincheste 24.

Condition may be unfired?
Will never sell as it was a gift but wonder as to worth.

    im showing about 150 for 60% up to 575 for 100% 95 %showing about 425.

    If it truly is in what appears to be unfired (unrefinished) condition (98+%), in todays collecter market, you could get at least $750 for it.

    Hello dipits: Somethings that really should be known: Barrel length, It could be 30,28,or 26 inches, generally with that choke combination, I'm guesing 28 or 30 inches. Shorter barrels usually bring more money. 2nd: Age, Manufactured from 1939 to 1957, a first year gun S/N under 8100, will add a little as well if it's a last year gun with a serial number above 116400. 3rd: some of the early Md 24's had some real nice figure in the stocks, where the later ones were were fairly straight grain walnut. A butt stock with a pistol grip was standard, if you have an english butt stock, (factory option) that would be rare. The most common butt plate was the old black hard rubber one, (bakilite) if your gun has the Winchester red rubber recoil pad, (factory option) again a little more. There were also Special Order guns, that had checkered stocks, I've only seen two, but they are out there.

    As Bert said, if it's truely original not refinished or restored, (yes there is a difference) and depending on how you market it, local paper, national publication like the Gun List, an internet auction site such as Gunbroker, based on what I've seen, about $500 as low and maybe over $1000 if there is any special options. The key thing is timing, meaning if yours is the only one on the market at the time, you will get a better price.
