Winchester model 55

Hi again,a friend of mind has a Winchester model 55 single shot 22,it loads from the top and ejects from the bottom.The rifle is in 85% condition.What is this rifle worth and what would be a fair price to offer?Thanks baba1

  My uncle recently passed away and today I was asked to invertory his gun collection. The only one that I could not come up with a price for was a Winchester model 55. Its marked model 55-Winchester-Nickel Steel-30W.C.F.. The ser # is 1006. My Ned Schwing collectors price & reference guide puts the date at 1925 and shows 20,580 made. Any idea on the value? TIA.

  gonna need more information. what kind of shape is it in? browning of barrels. rusted pitted.scratched up. some pictures would be nice,

  I didnt think to take a camera with me. The frame looks to be case hardened (looks more grey than blue). The rifle is in exc. condition. No rust or pitting, no scratches. All screw heads are unmolested. Wood is perfect. All-in-all the darn thing looks good! One of my other reference books show this to be in the takedown frame configuration if that helps any.

  The 1925 production date is probably right on the button. None of the Model 55s were ever manufactured with a case color hardened receiver frame though. What you are describing is simply a well worn blued frame. In light of the fact that it is well worn, I will need to see a few pictures of it before passing judgement on the value.
