Hello everyone...I'm going to purchase a new inline muzzleloader...I was looking at the Thompson Center line...I want an Encore but they are pretty costly...I was going to buy a Stainless Omega with a camo composite stock or I might just stay with the black and save money...Is the Omega a good gun? I mean it is pretty new...does it have the kinks worked out of it?...I know I have heard rumors of some muzzleloaders having pressure problems...the Omega doens't have these does it?...is it reliable, accurate, durable...good for the money?

    HRSHOOTER, I have the Encore and it is an awesome gun. I got it about 6 years ago for $459 new. My brother really liked it but did not want to drop the $500-600 that it sells for now, so he got the CVA Optima and it is a very accurate gun. It is basically a clone of the Encore, just not the quality of a Thompson. I'd say the Omega is a fine weapon as well and I have seen them for around $359. T/C makes excellent guns. I saw in my latest gun magazine, CVA is now offering the Optima with a shotgun/rifle/muzzleloader set. I personally am not a big CVA fan, but I can attest to the one my brother has and it has done well.

    Buy the TC you will be happy . The Encore is a great shooting muzzleloader. Dont settle for CVA junk.

    The Omega is extremely accurate ,it is the simplest most efficient design on the market.Ive sold quite a few and everyone loves theirs. I bought one when they first came out, for myself personally.
    T/C puts a little sample pack of their saboted bullets in the box. I loaded one of them with a 100 gr. chge of Clean Shot Powder and fired it off the bench at a sight-in target after boresighting it.It hit about 4 inches left and right on vertically. After counting the clicks in the scope to move it to the bullseye the second shot centered.I loaded again and the third shot went in the same hole as the second, I quit right there and Ive been killing deer with it ever since.
    The loading,cleaning etc. is utter simplicity,the lack of reciever length lets you have the 28 inch bbl. for more velocity and its still no longer overall than most others. 200 yard kills are common with an Omega ,try one you wont be disappointed.
    I would stick to T/C brand Sabots as they are designed to work in the bore.They work so good in mine Ive never tried any other brand.

    The only thing I dislike about the Omega is the loud click when you pull the hammer back to cock the weapon. There is a way to get around this but it is generally not considered to be very safe, that is -to hold the trigger to the rear when cocking the gun and let the trigger go forward before letting up pressure on the hammer. If you try this-be sure the gun is pointed in a safe direction or the direction of the deer you were going to shoot anyway so if your finger slips, you don't shoot your father, son or old uncle Joe just over the next hill.

    I don't like the Omega for one reason. The trigger and trigger guard. If you wear gloves, you can't get your finger in the trigger guard for a quick shot. You have to cock it before you can get your finger in. Other than that, I like it, but being from Iowa, and hunting when it's cold, and walking draws and waterways, that trigger guard system sucks for me. I have 3 Remington 700's and wouldn't trade any of them for all the other in-lines in the world, and yet there's hardly anything ever written about them.

    i have an Omega and an Encore- both are utterly reliable and outshoot all other muzzleloaders I've tried or seen at the range.

    I've had a T/C Omega 50 in stainless and camo for two years. I bought it new for just over $400. I think it is one sweet muzzle loader.

    The men around here (SW of Boston) are more into flint locks or percussion cap muzzle loaders, and I must admit that mine looks kind of like a toy not a gun, but it is a great shooting gun.

    I like it a lot, and it has given me no problems at all other than the click when you close the "lever" which has already been mentioned.

    It is a great shooter, and I've even won some of the BP Shoots at my gun club.

    Is the omega made in the u.s. i have heard rumors about those spanish barrels not being strong...and what would be a good scope/mount setup for about 250 to 300 or less that is durable and would be used at a range prb not more than 150 yards...thanks in advance!

    Oh yes, the T/C Omegas are made in Rochester NH USA. Mighty fine people up there![:D]

    I also bought a T/C Omega %0 Cal. when they first cam out. I have a blued one and recently put one of the camo stocks on it. I shoot 100 grains of Clean shot powder, 2 pellets and I can have 3 bullets holes touching each other at 100 yards all day long. It is the simplest muzzleloader on the market. And if it was any easier to clean it would be a crime. I agree that you should use the T/C Shock Wave saboted bullets in the Omega, they shoot so well why would you use anything else. I liked my Omega 50 cal so much that I bought a second one to have as a back up.
