Colt Question
I have a Colt .38 Army Special Revolver that I got from my great uncle when he passed recently. I cannot find anything similar to it. The Serial number lists it to be made in 1911. It has a pearl handle and is very ornately engraved. Any info would be appreciated...

I thought my Army Special was out of time because the cylinder didn't index fully to locked position when the hammer was cocked. Stops just a hair short.
Took it to a Colt gunsmith who said the cylinder indexes that final little bit when the trigger is pulled. And that it's supposed to do that. Indeed it does appear so.
Is it really true that Colts were made to do this? And why?0 -
.32 colt (both short and long) are c.f. versions of the .32 rim fire with a 'heeled' bullet (like the .22 l.r.). the .32 colt (new police) is the same as the .32 s&w (colt couldn't bear the thought of stamping S&W on thier revolvers). 0 -
32 colt is not the same as 32 new police (32 s&w). the s&w round will not chamber in a gun marked 32 colt, the neck is larger. check 'cartridges of the world ' for the specks and history, or just pull a couple of guns out of the safe and try it.... 0
