Best Muzzle Brake?

Hi, I am looking for a muzzle brake that works and will match the contour of my new Browning A Bolt Medalion in .375 H&H mag. Please give me some feedback on this so I can get this done.

    well,..you are gonna get a lot of controversy between those who don't like breaks and those who do. I like breaks,..but I will not shoot without ear protection, even in a hunting situation (unless it is a record contender[;)]). A lot of guides supposedly won't aloow them,..but I figure your money buys you the right to hunt with your rig,..no matter the break.

    IF,..your barrel is a pencil (sporter) barrel which is quite small in dia.,,then the KDF is one of the most effective breaks I have seen,..but they are LOUD. Now, if you want a break that can be turned down to match the exact dia. of your barrel,..the VAIS would be my choice. Very effective and less loud (not that it matters). WEAR YOUR F#@$!^& EAR PROTECTION when using any break!!!

    Brownells carries both.

    why chase the game when the bullet can get em from here?....

    Just C gave the right advice on where to get a brake, but do you really want one?
    As Just c said there are a lot of guides particularly in western states that are getting "brake" shy. Too many instances when "greenhorns" with big "braked" magnums are quick on the trigger and the guide is in a bad position and gets his ears rung badly. I have one gun with a brake and I only fired one shot with it in a hunting situation and that was enough, I really thought I was going to bleed out of my ears. I ended up eliminating the brake and enduring the recoil, cuz just one ear ringer like that was enough for me, never again.
    Really think about it before you do it, I would never even think about it after my experience, and the old adage that you won't hear the shot or feel the recoil when shooting at game is only half right when you are talking about "braked" rifles, you may not feel the recoil but I can assure you you will hear the the shot!

    I use, and like the Holland Quick Discharge brakes. The one on my Lilja barreled 25/284 makes it recoil like a .243 if that much. The one installed on one of my 6br's don't even move the rifle when it's fired, and thats a plus when the Nightforce scopes cranked all the up to 42X
    As far a hearing protection is concerned, they should be worn at all time's when shooting anything, braked or not, even the lowly 22rf.
    Any guide, or anyone thats foolish enough to be standing in front of a rifle that is braked or not deserves to wander around saying HUHHHHHH for a while....
    I was always taught to stay behind anyone shooting anything.

    If you go for the brake I'd suggest that you have it installed in a removable format. Also get a thread protector/cover for when you shoot it without the brake on it. More then a few private and public rifle ranges have banned them. If recoil reduction is the problem, have you considered a shotgun style recoil absorber in the buttstock?

    David Gentry of Montana makes a quite muzzle break. It will only increase a 300 win mag about 2 decibels to the shooter. I had one put on a Sako/Lazzeroni firebird and it was real nice. Debating about getting one on a Sako 7mm Ultra mag now.

    Hey MRbruce, for your information you don't have to be standing in front of the rifle to get your ears rung. A rifle with a brake will get you even when you are well behind the shooter, and you may not understand this as it sounds like most of your shooting is bench time, but in the hunting world it is fairly impracticle to hunt while wearing ear protection. Picture this, guide and client sitting side by side while the guide is glassing picking over some elk, sees a good bull and tells the customer there's a shooter, customer is quick on the trigger and guide doesn't have time to cover his ears and the customer bangs away, the guide, as you would be, is deaf and pissed off. Fact of the matter is that guides don't like brakes, don't believe me just ask one.
