S&W K22, no model number DOM ?

K 22, serial number 123970, original diamond stocks, adjustible rear sight, lots of character but servicable.

What might it bring and when was it made?

    Appears to be 1951?, if theirs a "K" prefix to the serial number.

    I also have a K-22 that, according to reference material, was made in 1957. Having been made in that year it is a 4-screw. The serial number is only on the butt, the cylinder is unmarked. There is no model number inside the yoke. With the serial number given, 123xxx, your K-22 should be a 5-screw with a screw at the top of the side plate. If it is, you know that it was manf. before 1955. Rufe is correct, according to my references, that is was manf. in 1951. In the serial no. on the butt, there is a large gap between the K and the numbers in the serial no. on my K-22. Thanks

    If the mfg. date of '51 is correct there should be a screw at the top of the side plate between the hammer and the recoil shield. If there is, there will also be a screw in the front of the trigger guard. The fourth side plate screw should be found under the right grip panel. (covered by grip therefore not visible without removing right grip panel) this should be a total of 5 screws. If not, I don't know what else to tell you. There are some five screws listed on auction with pictures you can compare. Thanks

    Assume we have that solved !!! Nice old 4" 5 screw.
