Differance between ruger and browning

Thinking of getting a 22 cal. pistol and I'am down to the browning buck mark plus 5 inch flatside bbl. or the ruger 5 inch bull barrel. Has anyone had any luck on these two gun's. How do they compare in shooting them.

    I have both.

    They are both very accurate.

    The one complaint most Ruger owners have is that dis-assembly and re-assembly can be a pain until you've done it a few times.I've never had mine apart,so I can't comment on that.

    The Browning I have was originaly the 5.5" Target model.The previous owner installed a 14" Ultimate silhouette bbl.and a Tasco Pro-Class scope.Can only shoot it from a rest since it's so long and heavy,but is very accurate.

    Either one will serve you well.I'd say to get them in your hands and see which one feels the best.

    Both are great guns. I dont care for the ruger since it feels funny in my hand. The buckmark holds great and shoots great for me.

    I have owned both and I personally like both of them. It all depends on what you are going to do with a .22. The Browning feels more like a .45 1911 than the standard Ruger. They are both very accurate. The Browning is quite a bit easier to take apart to clean. Ruger is better in the service department if you have a problem. Both are very reliable with no failures to feed. I would suggest trying them both if you have friends with both or going to the gun store and hefting them. I lean toward the Browning myself but that is more me than anything else. Having owned both I would say you can't go wrong with either choice.

    I have the Govt. model Ruger and it is extremely accurate, but, it is very finicky about what it will cycle. I guess it is due to the tight tolerances. It is a bear to disassemble and reassemble. I'd say you will not go wrong with either. [:D]

    Im supprised Dondalinger"s ruger if finicky. my gov.slab side shoots anything i can put in it. cycles good and every thing.

    ROLLN, Don't get me wrong, I really like the Ruger and have no plans to get rid of it. I just had to find the right ammo for it. A buddy of mine is a gunsmith and he said the govt. model is held to tighter tolerances than a regular model and that is probably why it misfeeds on lead tip bullets. I could have the feed ramp polished, but it feeds the copper plated tips fine. I had some Thunderbolts with the lead heads when I first bought it and it jammed about every other round, so I tried about 6 different kinds of ammo and every time it jammed, it was some type of plain lead tip. I guess the copper plated is harder and glides up the feed ramp better. It has been quite a few years and several thousand rounds later, it may eat anything now. I just have not tried. It is truly an amazingly accurate and reliable gun with the right ammo.

    I have the ruger Mk I, II, and III and the buckmark 5.5 target. The buckmark is the one I choose the most when going to the range it just always finds it way into the bag. I guess I just hate cleaning the Rugers afterwards.....

    I just give my Ruger a quick spray out with brake cleaner after shooting and a quick spray of teflon gun oil after brake cleaner evaporates. I may take it apart every 5 years for a complete cleaning but it still works flawlessly after 25 years.
