700 Remington Classics

I have acquired three Remington 700 Clssics. My first, a .257 Roberts, was purchased new. The finish on the metal is a high luster blue. My second is a .375 H&H. The metal finish is matte. I read somewhere that this was the norm for that year. I acquired my third classic this past weekend. It is the .223 rem from 2000. This finish also appears matte. I was under the impression that the metal should be a high luster blue like my Roberts. Were certain years produced in matte? Or, has the quality of the finish changed over the years?

    The early one caliber per year Classics were nice in wood and finish.They have cheapened them terribly over the last few years.The wood on a lot of them would have been thrown on the junkpile in past years.
    The matte finish is much much cheaper to produce so they give it a matte finish and crap wood and raise the price.Remington thinks gun lovers dont know the difference apparently.
