Weaver style mounts rely on a cross bar indentation to lock the rings in place. They come in alum. and steel . Rings can be had in both materials also. Steel mount/rings combos are very tough. Other types like Leupold and Burris rely on dovetailed mounts and/or windage screws to lock the rings in place. Pricewise, you can spend similar amounts on both. 0
