Factory Ammo Question for Rifle Accuracy.

What do you consider to be the most consistant, read that as accurate, factory ammo for modern caliber hunting rifles? This is not so much a question about caliber as manufacturer.

    By my own experience and going by what we sell the most of in our shop,the answer is Federal Premium by a fairly good margin.
    Their Ballistic Tip( NOSLER Bullet) loads are extremely good ,also the Sierra 85 gr BTHP load is most of the 243 shooters choice.

    For my Remington 700 in 270win Winchester Supreme ballistic silvertip 140gr. My brother has the exact same gun it shoots best with Remington 150gr SP Core-Lokt.

    Every barrel has a unique personality. That is, each will perform with a particular ammo it likes best. You will need to experiment to find the one your barrel shoots best with.

    I've shot rifels for over 40yrs and find winchester to be the best in every rifle I've shot, remington runs a close second and horady is a close third.

    Well as someone before me said try a bunch and see what your gun is going to like. These days there is lots and lots of quality ammo out there for sale that really is good stuff, I have been a staunch loader for 30 years ( this makes me sound old but I started early ) but I have found that a few of my guns turn in impressive results with factory loads. I have a .338 Win Mag and a .375 H&H Mag that shoot Federal Classic's which use Sierra bullets. The .375 H&H turns in 1.5" groups with a 1.5x5 power scope and the .338 has turned in a no foolin .264" group. My brother swears by Winchester Supreme's, so just get out there and buy some of the good stuff and see what your gun is in the mood for!

    I like Federal and WW. Buy a box or so of each brand you can find in your caliber and bullet weight you need and try them. If one shoots much better than the others buy a bunch of them. Be sure to buy the same lot number to be safe. Jim
